Wandering ancient streets in Orvieto, Italy

Our walk to and from the San Giovenale took us along the wall and through the seemingly ancient Quartiere di Serancia.

We found a few unexpected surprises along the way, including an open door that provided access to the courtyard of the 15th century Palazzo Filippeschi Simoncelli.

The mailman was making his rounds just ahead of us.

Otherwise the city was mostly still.
