When you need a break from the ochre walls of Marrakech’s medina, there is no better escape than the blue and green and yellow fantasy land of bamboo and cacti-encircled fountains of Majorelle Gardens.

It isn’t Moroccan in any meaningful way, but it is fabulous.
This is my submission to Travel Photo Thursday at Nancie’s Budget Traveler’s Sandbox where you can find images submitted by Nancie’s friends from around the world.
You can find more images of the garden (and the wonderful Berber Museum within the garden) at Marrakech’s Magical Majorelle.

Beautiful shots! One I wouldn’t have expected from Morocco. It looks very calming though.
No, it’s not what one normally associates with Morocco, but it is very beautiful. The Berber museum inside the garden is also very calming and it is very Moroccan!
Majorelle Garden was one of my favorite places in Marrakech. Such a nice spot to escape the chaos and heat of the city. I love your photos. You perfectly captured its “blueness” that I fondly remember.
Thank you! The garden is, indeed, a quiet and cool place to escape to.
I really like that shade of blue and how the yellow stands out against it. It’s not what I’d expect of Morocco.
The blue is very typical, the yellow is not. But together they are wonderful!
You have to love the blues you see in Morocco. Stunning.
PS Tried to leave a comment the other day – many times and it didn’t work. Crossing my fingers today.
The blues are amazing – but they match the sky!
Thanks for the note on the comment issue. I’ll have to see if I can figure out is going on.
Marcia at Inside Journeys sent the following:
Wow, what a gorgeous shade of blue. Love the yellow contrast.
Thanks, Marcia!
Hi! We have been to this garden. It was weird and different – in a good way. I seem to remember loitering in the air-conditioned buildings :)
Yes, I tried explain its appeal to our driver who assured me that most Moroccans don’t understand why people like it! It certainly isn’t your normal garden, but it is striking!
I love the bright yellow against the beautiful vivid blue background! Gorgeous!
Thanks! It’s a gorgeous place.
I love this garden and your close up details, this is such a magical garden to visit and the plants are all sculptures on their own…..when you have the chance come and join and link up with us for Travel Photo Mondays, the link is open all week!
As much as I love overgrown English gardens, I really like stark, sculptural plants! I keep intending to link to Travel Photo Mondays. . .
What beautiful snapshots, I love the blue wall contrast! Feels very Mediterranean!:-)
Yes, it reminds me more of the Med or Mexico than Morocco, but it sure is lovely!
