Photo Thursday: A Glimpse of Old Town, Kokkola (Karleby), Finland

Last updated on March 17th, 2020

I never finished editing my pictures from my visit to Finland in 2010 and now the cousins I visited then are coming to visit me. Their upcoming visit has served as good motivation to get those pictures edited. And a good thing, as I had nearly forgotten how interesting and beautiful Finland was!

This is an image from Neristan, the Old Town of Kokkola (Karleby) where a large neighborhood of traditional wooden homes still exists. It is a wonderful place to wander — my dad and cousin didn’t think they’d ever get me back in the car again!

This is my contribution to Travel Photo Thursday at Nancie’s Budget Traveler’s Sandbox. Head on over and see what she’s posted this week and then follow the links to images from around the world.

    1. My cousins live in a house that looks exactly like a Scandinavian house should – the old-style houses make the countryside look like a fairytale come to life!

    1. It's one of the things I love about Scandinavia — there are so many painted wooden buildings that provide a lot of color and texture. I love to do photography there.
