There is a lovely long stretch of sandy beach near my cousins’ summer cottages.
Along with a lovely beach, there is a protected area for swimming, a fishing shack, and at atmospheric fishing nets hanging in the air to dry. It also abuts a nature reserve, which helps keep it a little more wild and natural.

It’s an important retreat for my family and, when I first visited here nearly 30 years ago, I immediately recognized it from photos my father had taken more than 20 years earlier. It really hasn’t changed at all.
My cousin says it is her favorite place in the world. I can see the appeal.
