The port at Essaouira is home to a fishing fleet that is largely comprised of family-owned boats. Many of these are very small boats and almost all are painted blue. They are everywhere – on shore around the harbor, tied together in the harbor and, of course, on the water moving in and out of the harbor.
I’ve been unable to figure out why almost all of them are painted blue, but perhaps it keeps the boats from frightening the fish. Whatever the reason, they make the scene all the more picturesque.

I love Essaouira (with the exception of its very aggressive touts). But the fresh seafood, the blue boats, and charming port all made up for it. Nice set of photos you got here!
