Photo Thursday: An Otherworldly Garden in Marrakech, Morocco

Last updated on May 20th, 2026

When you need a break from the ochre walls of Marrakech’s medina, there is no better escape than the blue and green and yellow fantasy land of bamboo and cacti-encircled fountains of Majorelle Gardens.

It isn’t Moroccan in any meaningful way, but it is fabulous.

This is my submission to Travel Photo Thursday at Nancie’s Budget Traveler’s Sandbox where you can find images submitted by Nancie’s friends from around the world.

You can find more images of the garden (and the wonderful Berber Museum within the garden) at Marrakech’s Magical Majorelle.

  1. Majorelle Garden was one of my favorite places in Marrakech. Such a nice spot to escape the chaos and heat of the city. I love your photos. You perfectly captured its “blueness” that I fondly remember.

  2. You have to love the blues you see in Morocco. Stunning.

PS Tried to leave a comment the other day – many times and it didn’t work. Crossing my fingers today.

    1. Yes, I tried explain its appeal to our driver who assured me that most Moroccans don’t understand why people like it! It certainly isn’t your normal garden, but it is striking!

  3. I love this garden and your close up details, this is such a magical garden to visit and the plants are all sculptures on their own…..when you have the chance come and join and link up with us for Travel Photo Mondays, the link is open all week!
