Denver’s Historic Capitol Hill Neighborhood

Last updated on March 3rd, 2024

We are staying in the Capitol Hill area in Denver, a neighborhood that must have once been filled with gracious mansions. Today it is a mélange of styles, evidence of years of rebuilding following fires and various periods of economic collapse. Walking around the neighborhood it is easy to find a wide range of architecture on display, from Richardsonian Romanesque through Queen Anne, Tudor, Art Deco, Moderne, and more, right up to the ubiquitous condos and apartments under construction right now.

It is quite a mix – and this just represents the residential architecture in this neighborhood!

Don’t get me wrong though: There are plenty of truly awful buildings here too.

However, the overall impression is pretty appealing. This looks like a good place to live.
