Copenhagen’s Vor Frelsers Kirke (Our Savior’s Church) is famous for its spiraling external staircase.
Climbing the tower at Vor Frelsers Kirke
I have this thing for towers (well, any high place really) and came to Copenhagen knowing I wanted to climb the stairs that spiral around the exterior of the steeple of Vor Frelsers Kirke.

It looks pretty tall, but not so tall as to be intimidating.

The inside portion of the climb to the top is a bit of a challenge, with narrow, uneven steps. It’s a cool space, but a little treacherous.

Finally we are outside, where we find a lovely, gently spiraling stairway and great views over Copenhagen.

Eventually the stairs become too narrow to follow any farther. (You can’t actually climb all the way to the top.)

The older church below the tower is mostly airy and open, with a magnificent organ (supported by a pair of elephants).

I'm not a fan of heights, but love the pictures and view from the top!
Another beautiful Church.
Noticed that there were doors into the church pews. I understand the reasoning behind the doors was the congregation would bring in heated "rocks" or other material, and would place on the floor to warm the area. They would then close the doors, and this would help keep in the heat and keep them warm during the service(good idea in the days before our heating methods today!)
