Utilizing the most up-to-date barn design of the day, Moody’s two-story barn was built around its silo, simplifying the task of feeding the milk cows that were housed there. Those cows were kept on the main floor, with hay stored in the loft above.
Round dairy barns (like the use of blue paint) never really caught on in Minnesota and only about a dozen of these unusually shaped barns are said to remain in Minnesota.
The Moody Barn is located at the edge of Chisago City, less than an hour from Minneapolis/Saint Paul. The property is a public park and visitors are free to stop by at any time, however, the interior of the barn isn’t open to the public.
