The mountains of central Arizona begin North of Phoenix. These are not the rugged, towering mountains of the northern Rockies, but they are mountains.
Still, it always surprises me to imagine these roads as snow-covered and icy.
Whenever I’ve been here (always in spring) the weather has been mild (if not hot) and the only remaining snow has long since retreated to the peaks of the tallest mountains or cowers under the trees along shady slopes.
There were no icy roads awaiting us on this trip either.
There may have been snow and ice farther north, but all was warm and sunny as we headed toward Sedona . . . Just the way Arizona should be in March!
