Photo Thursday: Helsinki in Summer

Spread the word!

(Last Updated On: October 17, 2018)

While it still seems rather far away, summer is coming. I’m sure it is.

But, while I wait, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about where I wish I were going this summer.

The Nordic countries are on that list. They are glorious in the summer, with long days and sunny skies.

Helsinki was actually hot, hot, hot when I was there in 2010, but it looked cool and ethereal floating above the harbor.

Wish I were on my way there!

This is my contribution to Travel Photo Thursday at Nancie’s Budget Traveler’s Sandbox. Head on over and see what she’s posted this week and then follow the links to images from around the world.

    1. The city looks wonderful (I didn't have much time to actually spend exploring it on the last trip) and the islands in the harbor around it are gorgeous. It really is a wonderful summer destination, with a wonderful mix of city, country, and islands! A return trip is on my "one of these days" lists. . .

    2. I would love to go to all the Scandinavian countries in the summer. One year. Meanwhile here in Ontario where I am visiting we have had tempperatures ranging from 2C to 30C over the span of six days – summer & spring rolled into one.

    3. Yeah, we are having a spring like that too. . . I was hoping things would be better in Toronto next week, but maybe I'd better pack a jacket! Hope I will be seeing you at TBEX.

  1. Helsinki does look cool and ethereal here. One of these days, I'll visit. I'd love to experience the long summer. I probably wouldn't sleep though!

  2. I clicked on the photo and made it bigger and I am glad I did. It is a wonderful photo, with all the little details there that tell a story. I loved the wheel in the background. I have not been to Helsinki or any Scandinavian country – an oversight that I hope to right one day.

  3. Nice photo dear. Its a great place to wander about with no fixed agenda too.The city is surrounded by the sea, and the best of Helsinki Travel is found in its museums and churches – and occasionally in the summer also its beaches.Waiting to visit Helsinki sooner.

    1. I also have visited to the link posted by Armida Trentino. The information related with transportation options around the Helsinki is much useful. Thank Armida for this informative link.
