We intend to take the Indian Canyon Road into Palm Springs, but miss the exit so decide to just take the freeway down.
Just before the interchange to take us into Palm Springs, we come to the surreal sight of what looks to be millions of wind turbines (there are actually only about three thousand of them, but I guess that is still a lot) in long, straight lines. In the hazy air of mid-day they sort of float in the distance like a mirage.
This is the San Gorgonio Pass, a narrow notch between the Santa Rosa and San Bernardino Mountains. It is one of the windiest places in California. Maybe one of the weirder ones too.
