This hotel was selected by the organizers of the meeting I’m attending out here, but I couldn’t have ended up at a better place if I had chosen it myself.
The Hotel Modera is a modern modernist’s dream. A re-imagined 60s era hotel (most recently a run-down Days Inn), it is perfect in almost every way, from the stone sculpture, living walls, and blazing fire pits in the courtyard (which can be enjoyed from under the covered walkway even when the weather is being Portlandish) to the comfortable mid-century-style furniture (and books on mid-century design) in the lobby to the bold colors that enliven the smallish but comfortable rooms (complete with windows that actually open).
If all that weren’t enough, the train runs practically below my window (with a coffee shop conveniently located at the train stop) AND it is just a short walk to downtown.
(And Nel Centro, the hotel restaurant, is pretty dandy too.)
