The trip is on.
I used frequent flier miles and cash to buy two first/business class tickets to Munich (returning from Copenhagen) for a little less than what we would have paid right now to reserve two coach seats on Delta. I’ve been hoarding those miles for quite for just this purpose, so I’m glad I was able to make this work!
(Yes, I know I could have cut the cost in half by putting my dad in first class and then flying coach myself, but that didn’t seem fair!)
From Munich we will take the train to Berchtesgaden, then up to Berlin, fly to Finland, then either fly to Oslo or directly to the cousins in southwest Sweden, and then spend a final night in Copenhagen (dad wants to go to Tivoli while we are there) before flying home three weeks after arriving in Europe.
I am so excited.
All I have left to do is make arrangements with a friend in Germany and dad’s reunion group and cousins in Finland and Sweden. . . then I’ll try to find a travel agent to book the necessary trains, planes, cars, and hotels.
Just a few details left.
