Twenty years ago today the wall dividing Berlin into East and West came down and a new era arrived. Today was a day of memory and celebration in Berlin – a city far different from the one of that time . . . and perhaps nearly unimaginable from the city my dad knew in the late 50s.
I think I am – finally – going to get to see it for myself next summer, escorting my dad to a reunion there and a visit with the Swedish cousins.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
