La Conner, Washington

Last updated on May 27th, 2020

We start our vacation following our friends up from Seattle through to La Conner in the Skagit Valley.

I love this part of the state, with its classic old barns set in flat fields framed by the snow capped Cascades. I’ve always wanted to come here during tulip season, but it is beautiful now too, when the fields are just beginning to produce more prosaic crops.

La Conner is a quaint old town that is now a tourist village with lovely, often quirky, shops and galleries.

We start our day here with a late breakfast overlooking the water under a clear blue sky.

From here it is evident that there is still working harbor here too. It isn’t all tourism.
