Dreaming of travel to a remote corner of Vietnam

Dreaming of travel to northern Vietnam

This week’s New York Times Sunday travel section featured an article on the geologically and culturally fascinating Dong Van plateau in northern Vietnam.

The area sounds amazing, with fascinating geology, terraced mountainsides, and a mix of traditional cultures.

This remote area of northern Vietnam was recently designated a UNESCO Geopark, which is likely to make it a little easier to reach this relatively inaccessible part of the country (the Dong Van plateau is tucked up against the border with China). However, I’m hoping it doesn’t change too much too quickly.

And I’ll hope I can get there someday to experience it for myself.
